Dear Prayer Partner,
Ends and beginnings. Teaching at two seminaries in Manila, with different academic calendars, while being in year four of our four-year term, gives ours lives and ministries interesting complexity.
End: Jay's students finished their academic quarter last Friday, September 2, leaving his desk groaning under the weight of ungraded papers. Many students have clearly grown in their faith and in their ability to minister! It was a good quarter-thank you for your prayers!
Beginning: Yesterday we began a 10 day seminar focused on helping us to prepare for our Home Assignment in the USA, due to begin in May, 2006. Please join us in praying not only for this seminar, but for all the things that have to be completed here by May and all that must be done before then to prepare for an effective Home Assignment.
Beginning: Next week, Wednesday, September 14, the second quarter at BSOP will start. Jay will be teaching three courses this quarter (two is considered a normal load). Please pray for him as he teaches Hermeneutics, New Testament 2 (Acts and the Early Pauline Epistles), and Global Missions. Please pray for Jay to handle this heavy load well!
Beginning: Jay's BSOP course on Global Missions includes a mission trip with the students to the Mangyan tribal people on the neighboring island of Mindoro in October. Please pray for the preparation for that trip which must be done in September.
End: The course Amor is teaching at ATS ends on Oct. 8, so September is an important month for her. She came home so encouraged last Saturday from a creative class that stimulated a lot of discussion and learning. Her students were challenged to think creatively and to evaluate their own philosophy of doing Christian education. PTL! Please pray for her to end the course well.
We continue to rely on your prayers for the energy to end and begin so much, while also beginning to have to focus more and more on the end of this term and the beginning of Home Assignment in May, 2006.
Hanging on to the faithfulness of the One without beginning or end,
Jay and Amor
