Dear Prayer Partner,
If you were going to be transferred in June to a new country with a new assignment and could only bring what you can fit into two suitcases per person, what would you bring? That is a very real question that we have to answer in May. Please pray for us as we end our 4-year missionary term in early June.
Ending details: Ending a term means saying good bye to a lot of people. It also means a lot of hard work doing things like selling our car, packing up much of our apartment and Jay's office (the idea is to leave it so that a guest lecturer could use them while we are gone. That means we don't have to pack everything, a huge help. But, things like closets and desks need to be left empty). We still need to begin packing. We don't yet have our airline tickets, which is why we are not yet giving our departure date. Please pray for our travel agent; we'd like to have our tickets soon! Please pray that we won't forget anything important. Somehow we are still supposed to finish grading papers, do some study, do some writing, speak and mentor, and participate fully in the activities described in the following paragraphs, as we pack.
April 28 to May 1 - OMF Conference for the approximately 50 OMF missionaries based in the northern Philippines islands of Luzon and Mindoro. May God be worshipped and we missionaries revived by God's word and fellowship with one another! We don't see our fellow OMFers very often, so we look forward to such conferences, held each 1.5 years.
May 3-5 - OMF-Philippines Field Leadership Council. Jay ( second from the right in the photo) was elected by his fellow missionaries to this decision-making body of OMF in the Philippines. The Council needs God's wisdom and guidance. Jay, of course, will go off Council after this meeting.
New assignment: Please pray for us as we prepare for an exciting and challenging 1-year OMF Mobilization Assignment in the USA beginning in early June. Our home church already has a furnished apartment and car waiting for us in Denver. May God use our preaching and reporting and traveling to generate the funds, prayers, and new missionary candidates needed to continue the urgent evangelization of the billions of unreached peoples in East Asia.
Overwhelmed, excited, and trusting in Him,
Jay and Amor
