Dear Prayer Partner,
THE PRESENT: The deadline for the submission of papers by our students for the end of the first academic quarter is September 3. We will see then how your prayers for Z. and Y. (from our last prayer letter) will be answered. We always appreciate prayer for wisdom in grading papers. May we appropriately encourage and challenge our students.
THE PAST: BSOP will be celebrating its 50th anniversary with a series of workshops, concerts, and other activities from September 6 to 18. Our big Thanksgiving celebration will be on Sunday afternoon, September 16. BSOP began with four students in 1957. Only one of those four continued into 1958, though she was joined then by other new students. Now we have 130 students, nearly all residential and full-time.
God has indeed been faithful!
The activities for celebrating the anniversary will continue into October. In September each faculty is to submit an original paper to be published in an anniversary compendium. In addition, all students and faculty will be expected to go on a mission trip in October. Jay is the chairperson of the committee planning and coordinating these mission trips. Please pray for our writing, chairing, and for good fruit from these anniversary activities.
The seminary continues to need new faculty, new students, new books, and the continuing power, wisdom, love, and presence of the Triune God. Will you please continue to join us in praying for this strategic ministry while thanking Him for the first 50 years?
THE FUTURE: The new academic quarter at BSOP will begin on September 10. Yes, this will overlap with the 50th anniversary activities, making this period especially busy. Jay will be teaching Hermeneutics and Global Missions. Amor will be teaching Creative Teaching Methods. Please ask our Lord to help us to effectively teach this batch of seminary students.
May God continue to show you His faithfulness as you consider the past, live in the present, and prepare for the future. He does not change!
Holding on to His faithfulness,
Jay and Amor
