Dear Prayer Partner,
A friend of ours likes to imagine it as “opening the floodgates”. We aren’t sure it is quite as dramatic as that. But, it is important, so we do ask you to pray.
To learn to minister, seminary students must be involved in ministry. Therefore every weekend the seminary “opens the floodgates” and sends students to a variety of ministries in a variety of churches.
In honor of its 50th anniversary, BSOP wants to “open the floodgates” wider. Every student is to be involved in a mission or ministry that he or she has never done, led by a faculty member.
So, in the last week of October, the seminary will “open the floodgates”. Twelve groups of students, each led by a faculty member,” will go out to these ‘new’ ministries. Some will go to people of other ethnic backgrounds, such as minority tribal groups. Others will minister in a prison or to the sick or to the elderly. Still others will go to small Chinese churches in provincial towns which have been requesting a student team to come and encourage them and help them in evangelism and other ministries.
Jay is the overall coordinator of these 12 groups. He, with Amor, is also leading one of these 12 groups. Our group will be reaching out to Muslims in Baguio City, about 150 miles (about 250 km) north of Manila. Please pray for the ministries of these students at the end of October!
Before this, Jay will make a trip to Malaysia September 30 to October 8 to represent BSOP at a conference about reaching marginalized peoples in Asia.
Holding on to His faithfulness,
Jay and Amor
Amor is enjoying the challenge of teaching “Creative Bible Teaching” at BSOP this quarter. October is the heart of the academic term. Please keep on praying for our ‘regular’ teaching and mentoring of seminary students. (Please click the photo to see a larger version)
Answered prayers:
• The 50th anniversary events in September went well. Three of these events included evangelistic presentations and altar calls. At each altar call several went forward to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior for the first-time. Rejoice! (From our September Letter)
• Z and Y did manage to pass Jay’s classes and are continuing their studies. (From our Aug. letter)
• August giving was higher than in previous Augusts, but still not 100%. (From our Aug. letter)
Thank you for praying!
