Do you think of prisoners-of-war being marched in a victory parade when you read 2 Corinthians 2:14-17? The Corinthians would have! [The New Living Translation translates this well.]

Dear Prayer Partner,
The new school year began on June 9 here at the Biblical Seminary of the Philippines with 30 new students.
What a task to have three years to help mold these new students into men and women:
who understand how God has spoken and speaks through scripture, His Son, and the Holy Spirit
who can communicate that message in ways that God will use to call and transform individuals, families, churches, and societies into His likeness!
So, while we are working hard to teach Inductive Bible Study, Urban Missions, and Romans (Jay) and English (Amor) and to mentor various students (both), we recognize how little we can do to accomplish these God-goals and how much God alone can do.
Therefore, please pray with us that each new student:
 Adjusts well
Starts well in his/her practical ministry assignment
Studies well and learns well from teachers like us, and
Becomes all the triune God wants him/her to be!
Depending on God who answers prayer,
Jay and Amor

Last week Jay instructed his new students in Inductive Bible Study to make an outline of the whole book of Jonah and summarize the main point of the book into one sentence.
In class on Monday he had them write their outlines and summaries on the white board so they could compare their answers with the answers of their classmates. The answers were very different.
They all then decided they need to go back to Jonah and do more study this week. So, we will continue this lesson next Monday, as Jay expected from the beginning.
The students found this to be an important and interesting exercise. It is certainly relevant to the Christian life to which God has called them and us.
