November 22, 2010
Dear Friend,
We hope that this will be a unique Christmas for us. Jay might be finished with his doctorate by then!
We hope that this will be a fruitful Christmas for us. Each December marks the end of the second of the three academic quarters that make up the school year at the Biblical Seminary of the Philippines (BSOP) where we teach and mentor. December is a time for grading papers, preparing for the next quarter, which begins on January 3, and spending some time celebrating and resting.
A significant part of teaching and mentoring seminary students is giving them opportunity to be involved in various ministries. Last October we supervised two groups of students as they went out to different communities. The students learned much. They also had unique opportunities to share the gospel, including one opportunity to talk about Jesus with a leader of a non-Christian religion.
We are amazed at what God is doing here. New pastors, teachers, and missionaries are being taught and mentored. Our students are going out with the good news about Jesus, including the wonderful stories of His conception, birth, and childhood. It is like Christmas every day!
While a good year for ministry, 2010 has been a hard year financially. Our support is down. The US dollar has weakened. This undesirable combination calls for much prayer...
The biggest event on our calendars for 2011 is our moving to the USA in May for one year to do mobilization. We expect to be based in Denver, CO. Mobilization involves telling people, groups, and churches what God is doing in Asia. It has the goal of seeing more people praying, giving, and going as partners in that work. We are just beginning to put our mobilization schedule together. Please let us know when would be a good time for us to visit you!
We hope that those of you in the USA had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
May all of you have a unique and fruitful Christmas and new year!
Because He came,
Jay and Amor
