Dear Praying Friend,
Last month, Jay asked students in his Global Missions class to anonymously share their dreams and goals for their lives, especially as they relate to what God is doing to reach every type of people in the whole world. It was a really encouraging exercise!
It is my greatest dream to help couples to have a strong marital relationship founded in `Christ'... A strong family will build a strong church. A strong church will impact society both here and around the world. Student X.
My dream and prayer is that God will use me to draw and bring people close to Him. Particularly in the ministry of music, I dream that people will get to experience true worship, and gain a deeper knowledge of who God is in their lives. I dream that people will learn to be so in love with God that they will want to share God's love to others everywhere, even cross-culturally. Student Y.
I want to be an `Apostle of Revival' in the Chinese-Filipino Churches, in order to see these churches being all that God wants them to be, both in reaching the 97% of the Chinese unreached here in the Philippines as well as reaching around the world. Student Z.
Please ask our Lord to help these students to achieve these dreams, for His glory and honor and kingdom.
We had a wonderful Christmas break. The new year has started with a bang-literally and figuratively. Our schedules are full and interesting and challenging and fulfilling.
Amor has increased her class load for her studies. Jay enjoys seeing her bubble over with new ideas from her new classes. She does struggle trying to study while continuing her ministry of mentoring.
Jay is working hard to teach two classes he has never taught before-The General Epistles (Hebrews through Revelation) and Urban Mission. He is especially enjoying arranging some field trips to various urban ministries in Manila. February 7 to 10 he and his students will stay in a slum next to a huge garbage dump on the edge of the city. Then in March they will visit and work with a ministry reaching out to prostitutes, of which there are tens of thousands (maybe more) in Manila.
Chinese New Year is February 1. We are curious to see how it will be observed here at BSOP. Happy New Year!
Serving the God who gives and fulfills dreams,
Jay and Amor
