Dear Praying Friend,
Jay plans to celebrate his birthday in March by going to prostitutes. Please keep on reading to find out why! He is leading his Urban Mission class on a field trip to work with a ministry that is reaching prostitutes. The purpose of the class is to teach his students how to reach different types of people in the city, especially those on the fringes of society. Our field trips to different ministries are an important part of the class (see photo and caption.) Please pray for him and his class as they witness to prostitutes on March 14.
We received word that our financial support for 2002 was 98% of what was needed. This is great news!! Praise the Lord! Thank you for praying and giving!! This time last year we were very concerned that we would be unable to return to the Philippines. We are so grateful not only that we have been able to return but that our support has been adequate. Of course, OMF would prefer 100%. And our needs in 2003 will be slightly higher than in 2002 due to inflation. So, please keep on praying for God to supply for 2003.
We are in the middle part of the quarter which means a lot is going on. But the quarter is going well. The quarter ends with Graduation on March 30. Thank you for continuing to pray for our teaching and mentoring students this quarter.
Trusting the God who supplies,
Jay and Amor
Jay (right) and another volunteer move sacks of cement as they help to build a house for a poor family in a slum near a garbage dump on the edge of Manila.
Jay led his Urban Mission class on a 4-day mission trip to this slum February 7 to 10. Besides helping build this house, the class also helped with children's ministry, some medical projects, a clothing giveaway, and some evangelistic efforts. God blessed the evangelistic efforts with two conversions through personal evangelism. Several more raised their hands to accept the Lord at an evangelistic meeting we led. They are being followed up by the small church in the slum with which we worked. PTL! Thank you for praying for this trip! Please see our web site for more photos.
