Box 11, 1469 Valenzuela, MM, Philippines</div> <div> February 25, 2004</div> <div>  </div> <div> Dear Praying Friend, </div> <bR> <div> Jay led his Urban Missions class on an Exposure and Mission Trip to Payatas Jan. 30 to Feb. 1.  Payatas is the site of a major garbage dump (<A HREF="id74.htm" TARGET="_top" TITLE="Payatas Photos"><U>photos</U></A>) where many people earn their living by scavenging.  It is notorious for its poverty and spiritual need.  Thank you for praying for us.  <I>He answered your prayers for:</I></div> <div> <I>- Health and safety.</I></div> <div> <I>- All the new things the students experienced and learned.  The trip was significant for them!</I></div> <div> <I>- The new believers who accepted the Lord while we were there!</I></div> <bR> <div> Last week, Jay was part of a retreat with the faculty and students of BSOP.  Among other things, he taught them how to spend a half day in prayer.  Many of the students have never prayed for so long, even though this is a basic and important discipline for Christians, not least of all for those called to become Christian workers.</div> <bR> <div> Last Saturday Jay took his students from his Urban Missions Class to a day-long seminar on how to reach Muslims in South East Asia.  Muslims are 5% of the population of the Philippines and are found in every city in the Philippines, so this was a very relevant topic.</div> <bR> <div> Jay has really been enjoying teaching 40 lay people from a local church about the Book of Acts on Thursday evenings.  It is great that so many want to learn from God's word that they spend their evening studying after a long day of work or school.  A few struggle to stay awake but most seem to be enjoying the class and learning a lot.  May these lay people continue to apply well what they learn.</div> <bR> <div> Amor continues to appreciate your prayers as she keeps on with her studies and her spiritual mentoring of students.  <I>Thank you for your prayers.</I></div> <bR> <div> Because He first loved us!</div> <div> Jay and Amor</div> <bR> <bR> <div> Upcoming Prayer Needs</div> <bR> <div> Feb. 28 - Jay speaks to a group of non-Christian medical students from Taiwan about who Jesus Christ is</div> <bR> <div> Feb. 26, Mar. 4 - Amor takes her Comprehensive Exams for her Masters Degree</div> <bR> <div> Mar. 5-6 - Jay leads his Urban Mis-sions Class to work with a ministry that is evangelizing some of the hundreds of thousands of prostitutes in Manila.</div> <bR> <div> Mar. 11 - Jay chairs another meeting preparing for the OMF Field Conference</div> <bR> <bR> <div> by Jay and Amor Hallowell</div> <div> Last update: February 25, 2004</div> <div> --------------------------------- end of Hallowell content ----------------------------------------------</div> <bR> <bR> <bR> <bR> </td> </tr></table></body>
