Dear Prayer Partner,
We ended 2004 at our OMF-Philippines Field Conference, held for worship, fellowship, teaching, and reporting. Jay, as Chairman of the Conference Planning Committee was exhausted but fulfilled by the planning and work needed to facilitate this 4-day conference for 120 other OMF missionaries and their 58 children. Thank you very much for praying for the conference!
Here are some answered prayers at this conference:
- Sharing about our spiritual lives in small groups of 6-7 people, from different countries doing different ministries. Amor led one of these groups.
- Being challenged to reflect on Jesus as "Griller", preparing barbecued fish for his disciples for breakfast. What a privilege to be fed by the Lord! (See John 21)
- As emcee, Jay remembers making lots and lots of announcements. As chairperson of the planning committee, Jay also remembers hours of meetings with many people to keep the conference going and handling a variety of problems and changes that came up.
- Worshipping the Lord with the children of missionaries waving bamboo sticks with ribbons tied on them.
- Laughing together at a funny photo of the General Director of OMF-International.
- Meeting with a group of singles to listen to some of their challenges and problems as mis-sionaries
- Praying together with many different people--Amor facilitated the prayer at the conference.
- Eating tasty fresh seafood on the beach. Being reminded on the beach of our vulnerability to tsunamis and collecting a generous conference offering for tsunami relief.
Classes began again right away on Monday, January 3 at both the Biblical Seminary of the Phil-ippines (BSOP) and the Asian Theological Seminary (ATS). Please pray for God's energy and strength as we continue teaching and mentoring students at both seminaries.
Happy New Year!
Jay and Amor
P.S. The paper version included a photo of all those at the conference with the following caption: We (in the circle above) feel both humbled and challenged to be part of such a committed, diverse, and gifted international team as OMF. 17 nationalities were represented. Above is the official conference photo. (We are omitting the photo here following our Our web site plans, purposes, policies, parameters, possibilities
