Equipping God's Workers With God's Word For God's Work
Statement of Faith
A. The
Bible
All sixty-six books of the
Old and New Testaments are inspired by God, and in all spiritual and
moral matters the Bible is the believer’s sole rule of faith and conduct
(2 Tim. 3:15-17; Isa. 8:20).
B. The
Triune God
God is a triune God; the
Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit (Matt. 28:19; 2 Cor. 13:14).
1. God the
Father
God the Father is one
(Deut. 6:4); self-existent (Exo. 3:14); eternal (Deut. 33:27);
omnipresent (Jer. 23:24); omniscient (Psa. 139:2-6); omnipotent (Rev.
15:3); Creator of heaven and earth, all creatures and men (Gen. 1); the
Sustainer (Psa. 145:9-18); the most holy (Rev. 15:4); the most righteous
(Isa. 45:21); the most loving (Lam. 3:22), Lord of all.
2. God the
Son
God the Son is the Lord
Jesus Christ, who is one with the Father (Jn.10:30); equally
self-existent (Jn. 1:1); worthy of the same worship (Jn. 5:23; Heb.
1:6); and glory (Jn. 17:5); the Word made flesh (Jn. 1:4); born of the
Virgin Mary and conceived by the Holy Spirit (Matt. 1:18).
He lived for more than
thirty-three years on earth (Lk. 3:23); never sinned (Heb. 4:15);
performed miracles and signs (Jn. 11:47); was nailed on the cross to
give His life as a ransom for all (Matt. 20:28; I Tim. 2:6); died and
was raised on the third day (1 Cor. 15:4); ascended to heaven, and is
seated at the right hand of God (Mk. 16:19); in due time He will come
again (Acts 1:11; Mk. 13:26-32) to judge the church and the world (1
Pet. 4:17; 2 Cor. 5:10; Matt. 25:31-46); to establish the Millennial
Kingdom (Rev. 20:1-6). Then He will reign as King forever and ever (Rev.
11:15) and His Kingdom shall have no end. (Lk. 1:33).
3. God the
Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is the
third person of the Trinity (Matt. 28: 19). He is with the Father and
Son (Acts 5:3-4; Rom. 8:9-19); co-creator of the world (Gen. 1:2; Psa.
104:30); proceeded from the Father and sent by the Son (Jn. 15:26); to
convict man of sin, righteousness, and judgment (Jn. 16:8); to
regenerate believer (Jn. 3:5); to guide man into all truth (Jn. 16:13);
to conquer sin (Rom. 8:2); to sanctify (1 Pet. 1:2); to empower the
believers’ witness (Acts 1:8); to be their counselor and to be with them
forever (Jn 14:16).
C. Man
1. Fall
All men sinned because
their forefather Adam was tempted by Satan (Rom. 5:12) and are corrupted
(Jer 17:9; Rom. 7:18); doing all manners of evil (Rom. 1:18, 21-32).
2.
Redemption
Since all men have fallen
and become sinners, they have fallen short of the glory of God,
therefore all men need the redemption of Christ Jesus (Rom. 3:23-24).
The blood of the Lord Jesus Christ that was shed on the cross is man’s
only means of forgiveness and redemption (Acts 4:12; 1 Pet. 1:18-19).
3.
Regeneration
All men are corrupt,
therefore all need to be regenerated (Jn. 3:37).
4.
Justification
Justification is by faith,
through belief in Christ Jesus, not by any means of work (Rom. 3:24-28;
Titus 3:5).
5.
Sanctification
Jesus died that we may
live to righteousness (1 Pet. 2:24). Therefore each believer must do
good to glorify God (Matt. 5:16). Through recognizing the truth of the
cross (Rom. 6:1-14) and the help of the Holy Spirit (Rom. 8:13), the
believer can live a sanctified life (Rom. 8:2-4).
6.
Resurrection
All the dead will
resurrect (1 Cor. 15:1-19). When the Lord descends from heaven, the dead
in Christ will be resurrected with glorified bodies (1 Thess. 4:16; 1
Cor. 15:35-49) to enjoy eternal life (Matt. 26:46; Jude 21). The
unbelievers will resurrect after the millennium (Rev. 20:5, 13) to
receive judgment of eternal punishment in hell (Matt. 25:46; Rev.
14:10-11).
D. The
Church
The church is the body of
Christ (Eph. 1:23), composed of all regenerated men who were purchased
by the blood of Christ (Acts 20:28; Jn. 10:16). Christ is her head (Col.
1:18); all the believers become one in Him (Gal. 3:27-28). When the Lord
shall descend from heaven, all her members, the dead and the living,
shall be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so
shall be with the Lord forever. (1 Thess. 4:16-17).
E. The
Great Commission
The Lord Jesus said, “Go into all the world and preach
the gospel to all creation” (Mk. 16:15). This is the last commission
given to the church, and each believer must share in the responsibility
of fulfilling it (2 Cor. 5:18-20).
